Henry and Percy
I have known both Henry and Percy since they were kittens. Although they look like they could be brothers (both are gray tabbies), they are actually six months apart in age. They are the beloved cats of my aunt and uncle, who got Henry first and then Percy later to give Henry a companion. These two cats could not be bigger opposites. Percy believes he is a fellow person and is known for following my aunt and uncle to backyard parties across the street. Henry is much more cautious and shy but once you are his friend, you are his friend for life. I made this piece as a gift to my aunt and uncle for Christmas 2021.
As a child, I only used traditional No. 2 pencils until my wonderful art teacher aunt gave me a set of drawing pencils that ranged from 6H (very thin and hard) to 8B (soft, thick, and dark) and suddenly a whole new world opened up. At first, I leaned more toward the H pencils but these days I adore a 6B pencil. The majority of this piece was done with a 6B, with some fine details done with a 2B.
